Pilobolus Dance Theatre

Pilobolus Dance Theatre

Pilobolus Dance Theatre is a collaborative of modern dancers that began with a core group of Dartmouth College students in 1971. The central structure of their dance routines is the concept of shared weight. Individual dancers link up and share their weight to create an individual mass of human bodies. Their innovative and expressive movements have been widely recognized as such, and the company has been "propelled forward" to the cutting edge of modern dance. Their latest works have been shadow works - where narratives and scenes are performed live, but presented on a two dimensional plane of a projection screen. Doing this allows them to play with scale and props in a new and invigorating way.
